Us

  • We met online in March 2008. While he was in Iraq...deployment number 2 for him. Actually, if we're going to get technical here, he first friended me on MySpace in July 2007. We sent a few emails back and forth, and then he replied to my last email in March 2008, saying "I guess I never responded to your email". I still consider March as when we "met" though.
  • We met in person in June 2008 when he came home for R&R.
  • I just assumed we were in a relationship together, and changed my MySpace dating status to "in a relationship" before talking to him about it.
  • The two weeks of leave were amazing, and that sealed our relationship.
  • He said "I love you" first...when he was back in Iraq, and I was on vacation to Alaska. I didn't believe him at first. I think I told him to shut up. Hmm, that wasn't very nice of me. I just wasn't expecting it.
  • When that deployment was over, in November 2008, I went to Ft. Drum, where he was stationed at the time, a week after the homecoming. I vowed that if he ever was deployed again, I would NEVER miss a homecoming. I get a 2nd chance in this department, and for that, I'm thankful.
  • He PCS'd to Germany in April 2009. April 19, 2009, to be exact. That was the worst/hardest day of my entire life.
  • He came home for Christmas in December 2009 and we spent 2 1/2 weeks together.
  • We became engaged on December 29th, 2009.
  • We're currently in the midst of a deployment....3rd for him and 1 1/2 for me.
  • Our wedding is in July 2011, and after that I'm going to PCS the hell out of my life and move to wherever he is. To be honest (and selfish), I hope he stays in Germany so I can go live there and experience the German lifestyle with him.
  • I think he'll be a career military guy.
  • He's one hell of a soldier and has a lot of potential.
  • I love him with all my heart.

A Little About Us!!

1. What are your middle names?
Mine is Ann; his is Adam.

2. How long have you been together?
I consider us to be together since March 2008, but we really met in person in June 2008. Yeah, we did the online thing.

3. How long did you know each other before you started dating?
Seeing as how we officially became a “couple” in June, after having been “friends” since March…3 ½ months

4. Who asked who out?
Neither really…I think it was just a mutual understanding.

5. How old are each of you?
I was 23, he was 25, I think.

6. Did you go to the same school?
Nope – our hometowns are only about 20 mins from each other though.

7. Are you from the same home town?
Sorta – about 20 minutes apart.

8. Who is the smartest?
He is. Not gonna lie :)

9. Who majored in what?
I have an associate’s degree and he’s just a pure badass.

10. Who is the most sensitive?
ME! Hands down. He's got a big heart, but overall, I'm more sensitive.

11. Where is the furthest you two have traveled together as a couple?
Our one and only road trip has been from Ft. Drum, NY to west Michigan…it was about a 10 hour drive, and thanks to the weather, it was more like a 14 hour drive. However, when I went to visit him before this deployment, we travelled around Germany together. So I guess it depends on how this question is interpreted :)

12. Who has the worst temper?
I think he’d say he does…and I’d agree (mostly).

13. How many children do you want?
I think he wants 3, but I want an even number of kids…2 or 4. (I’ve not birthed kids though, so this answer might chance after I do that!) I am the middle kid right now, out of 3, and I don’t really like it. 2 seems like too little, and 4 seems like too many. Plus, there are quite a few names I really like! We’ll see how it turns out!

14. Who does the cooking?
We both do. We both really enjoy cooking and baking…and eating. When he’s home, he will make me breakfast, which is always nice because I never take the time to make a real breakfast. I also bake him goodies, and I make him stuff any chance I get.

15. Who is more social?
I think he is. I’m more shy and reserved at first.

16. Who is the neat freak?
I think we’re pretty equal here. I love being tidy and he enjoys a nice clean space. He was always cleaning his barracks room. I actually enjoy cleaning though, so I’ll be the one to do this when we finally live together.

17. Who is the most stubborn?
He is. He’s exactly like his dad!!!!

18. Who wakes up earlier?
HE DOES! He can be good on just a few hours of sleep; I like to sleep in as late as possible! He also doesn’t just like to lay in bed…once he’s up, he’s up. I could stay in bed all morning reading a book.

19. Where was your first date?
Olive Garden, June 6, 2008 :)

20. Who has the bigger family?
He does – 7 siblings! I have 2 siblings. I love his big family though.

21. Do you get flowers often?
I get them a few times a year. Holidays/birthday’s normally, but this deployment, I’ve gotten a few quite randomly. I love it. Keep up the great work, Babe!!!

22.How do you spend the holidays?
This is the first year we’ll be spending Christmas and New Years apart. I’ll be at my parents on Christmas morning, and then I’ll go to his parents house a little later in the morning to spend some time with them. He told me he’ll be “offended” if I don’t go visit his family on Christmas Day. I planned on going whether or not he wanted me to though.

23. Who is more jealous?
I don’t think either of us are really jealous.

24. How long did it take to get serious?
Not long at all :)

25. Who eats more?
He does! Don’t get me wrong, I can eat a fair amount, but he never ceases to amaze me with how much he can pack in his trim belly. Case in point (sorry in advance, babe): he was recently at a different base and different DFAC food. One night for dinner, he had: a double cheeseburger, onion rings with chili and cheese, quesadilla and a small soft taco. And 2 sodas: a pepsi and a Mt. Dew. That’s like 3 meals, easily!!! He works it off though in no time.

26. What do you do for a living?
I work in the technology department at a local school district. And I wait impatiently for this deployment to be over and for him to be home safe. That’s a full time job in itself!

27. Who does the laundry?
Oh I do for sure. I actually love doing laundry, like I love cleaning. He hates laundry, so he is glad when he’s home and I can do it for him.

28. Who’s better with the computer?
We’d argue about this one. We’re both good with computers, but with different aspects of them. He’s better at the setup of networks/wireless part of it, and I’m better at figuring out how to work a program. So I’d say we’re equal.

29. Who drives when you’re together?
I’d say mostly he does. I drive sometimes, but I like when he drives me around. It feels all old-fashioned and I like it. And if we're out for the night, I'm always the designated driver.

30. What is your song?
Our relationship song is “Wonderful Tonight” by Eric Clapton and our deployment song is “Dear God” by Avenged Seven Fold.
